Engineered Wind Systems is your source for everything wind energy
Residential Wind Turbines, Home Wind Turbines, Small Wind Turbines
Traditional residential wind turbines refer to a group of small wind turbines ranging in size from 300 watts to 3kW. These small residential wind turbines are small enough to be mounted on the roof of a home or even the back of a sailboat.

These simple, small residential wind turbine units allow you to reduce your carbon footprint and contribute to the green energy movement. Along with helping the environment, these small residential wind turbines are effective enough to make a small impact on your home electric bill as well. A one kW residential wind turbine will save the average home the equivalent of 2 months of electrical usage each year. That number can vary however based on your area, the size of your home, and the efficiency of the turbine.

Currently the smallest residential wind turbine offered by EPS is the 10kW Redriven Wind Turbine. EPS recommends this home wind turbine for its combination of price, power and compact size. This small wind turbine is larger than most residential wind turbine units, however it also produces significantly more energy.

When considering a home wind turbine, First consider the location of your home. Is it in a windy area? Is the wind steady all year round? Then consider the size and energy usage of your home. Is your energy usage enough to warrant a home wind turbine to offset bills? Then ask your reasons for installing a home wind turbine. Are you installing it to help save money, or are your intentions driven by more socially responsible reasons? EPS can help you answer some of these questions when considering a home wind turbine, so feel free to contact us and we'll help you find your best use of energy.

If you're looking to make an even bigger impact on your home electric bill than that which a residential wind turbine would provide, we recommend you consider a solar hot water heater or a geothermal heating system. Finding the best use of energy is our objective for our customers, and we encourage them to consider these two alternatives when shopping for a home wind turbine.
